The Capital District YMCA Black and Latino Achievers program is a dynamic initiative aimed at empowering and supporting young individuals from Black and Latino communities to reach their full potential. Black and Latino Achievers program aims to empower Black and Latino youth to realize their full potential, become leaders in their communities, and make meaningful contributions to society.
Through a combination of the key components of the Black and Latino Achievers program, which include:
- Academic Support
- Mentorship
- Leadership Development
- Cultural Enrichment
- College and Career Readiness Community
- Civic Engagement
. . . Achievers equip participants with the skills, confidence, and resources they need to succeed academically, personally, and professionally.
The Youth and Government program educates and enhances the development of middle school and high school-age students across the country. Teens are provided the opportunities to use their thoughts, voices, and actions to grow and contribute as productive members of society. Through this process, we hope to build socially responsible, civic-minded citizens with strong academic and social interpersonal skills that further their and our future.
The program has inspired many young people to enter politics and allied fields such as law and service to others. Teens who join Youth and Government will further develop their skills and present at the Annual Youth and Government State Conference held at the Capitol through the following paths:
- Executive
- Legislative
- Judicial
- Lobbyist
- Press
The cost of each program is $250. Scholarships are available.
