Feeling Thankful for Community
As Thanksgiving approaches, I’m reminded of the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together. Our Basket Brigade program, which started in 2016, has become a beautiful example of that spirit in action.
The idea is simple but impactful: ensuring that every family in our region can enjoy a complete Thanksgiving meal. Thanks to the generous support of our partners — HMA Contracting Corp., Hamel Real Estate, St. Edward’s Church, and the Capital Region Food Pantries — and the hard work of volunteers, we’re on track to feed over 1,500 families this year.
None of this would be possible without volunteers. Every meal is packed, sorted, and delivered by people like you who want to make a difference. Whether it’s lending a hand at one of our branches, helping organize donations, or delivering meals to families, there’s a place for everyone to contribute.
The Basket Brigade program isn’t just about feeding families; it’s about showing them that their community cares. This program is a team effort, and we’d love for you to join us.
If you’re interested in volunteering or supporting this cause in other ways, reach out to your local CDYMCA branch or visit our website for more details. Together, we can make this Thanksgiving a little brighter for everyone.
Thank you for all that you do to support our community.
As Circle of Champs celebrates 25 years, we are asking for a $25 gift to ensure this program can continue to grow and support even more Capital Region families. For every gift, a ch
ild and their family are given the gift of respite and fun, away from the many grueling realities of battling a life-threatening illness.
Please consider a $25 gift to Circle of Champs today!
